Jorge Gironás
Doctor in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, United States, and civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Associate Professor of the School of Engineering of the Catholic University of Chile, he is a specialist of the SWMM model and is the main author of the application manual of said model for the US Environmental Protection Agency.
His research focuses on the relationship between anthropic systems and water, understood as both a resource and a threat. His most outstanding research and works are in the area of hydrological process modeling, rainwater management and simulation, prediction and forecasting of extreme events. These lines of work are developed as a researcher at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS) and the Multidisciplinary Center for Global Change (CCG-UC.
