The evolution of seismic codes, seismic instrumentation and structural health monitoring will be some of the themes of the XIII Annual Congress of the Association of Structural Civil Engineering.
The evolution of seismic codes, seismic instrumentation, structural health monitoring, advances in seismic protection systems and structural resilience are some of the themes that will present national and international exhibitors at the XIII Annual Congress of the Association of Structural Civil Engineers (AICE), between 30 September and 2 October.
In the «New Scenarios for Structural Engineering» conference, Eduardo Miranda, a professor at Stanford University, will explain how the intensity measures that have been used for more than 50 years, have several major drawbacks, which will support research results on alternative parameters. Chilean calculus Freddy Piña, meanies, will exhibit the performance design of tall buildings in North America. While structural engineer Ricardo Henoch will refer to organic post-stress distributions derived by topological optimization.
Juan Carlos de La Llera, dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, will also refer to advances in seismic protection and structural resilience systems; Sergio Contreras, president-in-office of the College of Engineers and director of the Construction Institute, will comment on the NCh3389 standard on structural intervention in existing heritage constructions and buildings; and René Lagos Engineers engineers Jorge Villarroel and Matías Núñez will explain the use of the BIM methodology in large-scale structural engineering projects.
