Researcher

Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, United States, Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is an associate professor in the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering and Mathematical and Computational Engineering, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
His research areas are motivated by complex phenomena of nature that are related to engineering problems, and that can only be approached with deep knowledge of fluid dynamics and advanced numerical algorithms. His focus is on solving these problems by also explaining the physical processes that occur, through simulations with high resolution, and using tools such as statistical models of turbulence, stochastic simulation, and non-linear dynamics in flows with chaotic advection.
