Carolina Martínez

PhD in Geography from the University of Barcelona (Spain), a master’s degree in Geography from the University of Chile and a geographer from the University of Playa Ancha. Academic of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, she currently develops research projects on coastal evolution through the paleo-geomorphological reconstruction of the Gulf of Arauco coast (Biobío Region) on a holocene scale considering tectonic and eustatic factors. Special attention is given to fragile coastal environments such as coastal beaches and wetlands as well as their relationship to anthropization.

Its main interest is the study of coastal evolution at different time scales, geomorphology and morphodynamic processes of the coast and natural risks on the coast. These studies generate different applications to coastal management and territory planning through methodologies of adaptation to environmental changes.
